WELCOME TO THE THIRD EDITION OF URBANITE NEWSLETTER!!!

This newsletter is a publication of the URBANITE Project. Its goal is to provide information about the project activities and to showcase the project achievements.

The URBANITE project funded by the Horizon 2020 program of the European Commission, aims to provide tools for decision-making in the urban transformation field using disruptive technologies and a participatory approach. These tools should aid the process of taking decisions, based on data evidence.

Summary of the SoPoLabs

Awareness Raising Activities for sustainable mobility

URBANITE participates on the XXIII Spanish ITS Congress / V Iberoamerican (LATAM) ITS Congress

During the project different policy co-creation sessions took place: the first SoPoLab (Social Policy Lab) session, entitled “Ask: defining challenges and formulating shared values and principles”, held between the January and the beginning of 2021, focus on the formulation of challenges and shared values.

On March 16, 2023, the fourth (and last) SoPoLab (Social Policy Lab) event was held in the Sala Giunta of the Municipality of Messina, organized as part of the EU-2020 URBANITE project by the Municipality of Messina and Alma Digit srl.

The ITS Congress, organized by ITS Spain and ITS Iberoamerica and chaired by the Consejería de Fomento de la JUNTA DE ANDALUCÍA, will be held in FIBES (Seville) on March 28, 29 and 30, 2023 under the slogan ”ITS Deployment for Sustainable Mobility”, organized by ITS Spain and ITS Iberoamerica and chaired by the Consejería de Fomento de la JUNTA DE ANDALUCÍA.

Co-creation activities in Messina towards shared urban mobility solutions

2022 General Assemblies

The activities related to co-creation in URBANITE project are mainly performed through what we call SoPoLabs (Social Policy Labs) which see the involvement of the stakeholders which revolve around urban mobility. In Messina SoPoLabs have brought stakeholders and policy makers to discuss about common issues, in order to find shared solutions on urban mobility for the Municipality. Since the start of the URBANITE project, three SoPoLabs have been held and they have brought interesting results.

The European Week of Regions and Cities, organised by the European Commission and the European Committee of the Regions, is the biggest annual event dedicated to cohesion policy. It has grown to become a unique communication and networking platform, bringing together regions and cities from all over Europe, including politicians, administrators, experts and academics.

During 2022, 4 General Assemblies were held, the first on a virtual/on-line format, the rest F2F. The 6th Online General Assembly was focus on the data management platform and the functionalities and challenges from the simulation and analysis perspective, and the GAP analysis VS use case scenarios. The 7th GA was held in Bilbao, hosted by TECNALIA, and focus on the second version of the URABNITE Ecosystem and pilot instances.
